June 28, 2017- A recent article written by Barran Liebman associate Andrew M. Narus reminds Oregon business owners of the next minimum wage increase, scheduled for July 1, 2017 (see full article here). This increase will affect all three Oregon county divisions accordingly:
- $0.50 increase for non-urban counties (from $9.50 to $10)
- $0.50 increase for standard counties (from $9.75 to $10.25)
- $1.50 increase for the Portland Metro area (from $9.75 to $11.25)
This increase is a part of several annual minimum wage increases enacted by the 2016 Oregon Legislature through Senate Bill 1532. The series began on July 1, 2016 and will end on July 1, 2022, with a rate of $14.75 for the Portland Metro area.
Beginning July 1, employers will also be required to visibly display an updated minimum wage poster. It is important for Oregon business owners to be fully informed on how they will adapt their business policies accordingly to comply with these changes. Oregon business owners must act now to ensure compliance.
